My first Cinemagraph test! Here is how to do it in a nutshell:
- The material was shot on a Sony EX3 with the model moving as little as possible – apart from the movement you want to have of cause.
- After transferring the material into FCP I found an ideal loop point. Then I exported the clip as a TIF sequence.
- In Photoshop I masked all the unwanted movement. So only the first layer (the first frame) is the whole image, all the others are just the moving part (the hand and arm)
- Finally I exported the layers as a GIF animation
